Picture1

The Shipyard Maine Coast Marathon will be held this weekend, Friday, May 13th through Sunday, May 15th, at the University of New England in Biddeford, Maine. The race offers a variety of course options, including a marathon, a half marathon, a half marathon relay and a back-to-back 39.3 Mile Challenge. Both are sold out with the field limit less than 3,000 providing a more intimate experience for runners versus the hustle and bustle that comes with the larger race options. Even the wait list sold out! By having limited people out on the course, runners are able to have a personalized experience soaking in the beauty of the Maine area.

Marathon in Indianapolis Offered a Monumental Experience

indymonumental

The 8th Indianapolis Monumental Marathon, Indiana’s largest and fastest marathon offering a beautiful course highlighting the buildings and monuments in downtown Indy, provided RaceJoy as a runner tracking option at this weekend’s event.

In it’s record-breaking year, with more finishers than ever before, approximately 13,820, this was one amazing event for RaceJoy to be a part of!

Race organizers provided two forms of tracking for participants and spectators: standard text alerts and RaceJoy’s GPS tracking for 99 cents.

IndyWeb

The official race timed text message alerts were provided by the End Result Company at the 10K (6.2 miles), 13.1 and 30K (18.6 miles) and finish. In addition to these official race alerts, people had the option to use RaceJoy for live GPS course tracking. For those that carried their phone and used RaceJoy, they received audio alerts at every mile on the course (28 total – includes start and finish) with pace and estimated finish time. Tracking spectators also received these alerts.

12,760 progress alerts were issued through RaceJoy

RaceJoy is a new technology for the Indy area and it was clearly embraced by the 2,100 race participants and supporting family and friends both at the race and around the country who used RaceJoy. More than 340 participants were live tracked on race day and 12,760 GPS progress alerts were issued through RaceJoy.

The race organizers promoted standard SMS alerts at designated timing locations and RaceJoy’s GPS-based course tracking through their website and social media. The promotion of RaceJoy allowed participants to know about the interactive race experience available to them.
