Getting cheers from my friends and family was amazing. Also getting updates on my progress and pace was incredible. My family loved using it to track my progress. I really appreciate this app and how it got me through this huge accomplishment. Thanks!!” – Jessica K.

“What a fun way to race!!! I really enjoyed having all my family near and far in my “pocket” as I did the Flying Pig Half Marathon. It was so encouraging to see love from all over pouring in as I did my race. I would highly recommend it.” – Becks

Special shout out to all the races who offered RaceJoy and gave your participants the opportunity to use RaceJoy and the ability to have their friends and family support them during the race. Those 48,000 cheers means a great deal to many of the runners and walkers and helps them to achieve what they set out to do at your event. Also, thank you to all of you who used RaceJoy and for posting your positive reviews to help encourage others to try RaceJoy.

Together, we are changing the race experience!

“I used this app for a half marathon race and enjoyed the mile splits, finish time estimates and (what was really enjoyable) the cheers from family and friends that were tracking me race. I hope other races will consider using this app!”  – Apple App User Review from H. Gaitonde

Stay tuned for the Next RaceJoy Record in May: Fastest runner to ever use RaceJoy…

Queen Bee Half Marathon Participants Buzzed with Race Joy!

The Queen Bee Half Marathon on Saturday, October 8th buzzed through Cincinnati as more than 3,000 finishers took to the streets. Race organizers of the Flying Pig Marathon are also the hosts of this weekend’s women’s half marathon and offered RaceJoy’s interactive race day experience to their participants and spectators for free for the second time this year.

Organizers offered RaceJoy at the Queen Bee Half in 2015, its inaugural running, and the response continues to be very positive. Nearly 1,500 participants and spectators used RaceJoy this year for its live phone tracking, GPS-based progress alerts and Send-a-Cheer features.

Each participant of the half marathon and 4-miler events were able to access RaceJoy to be live tracked by their supporting family and friends as they moved along the course. Participants carry their phones and spectators can see where they are in real-time on the race’s official course map.

Participants are also able to receive progress updates that are based on the GPS location of their phone and include information like pace and estimated finish time. Queen Bee Half Marathon alerts were issued at every mile. More than 15,000 alerts were sent to participants and their supporting family and friends!

Participants can also choose to post these progress updates to their personal Facebook and Twitter walls in real-time. More than 250 alerts were posted to social media during the event!

The Send-a-Cheer feature is a RaceJoy favorite, allowing spectators to send fun, motivational audio cheers to their tracked participants. Almost 3,000 cheers were sent including great usage of our Halloween cheers for October! What an un-bee-lievable show of support!

Check out these popular Halloween cheers!

The cheer feature also allows users to send custom Text-to-Cheer messages allowing personalized messages to be sent in audio format.

The Queen Bee Half Marathon is on a mission to promote the fun of fitness while raising support and funds for local charities that focus on women. The race weekend included plenty of pampering, swag and fun – all the perfect ingredients for a great girls’ weekend.

The event offers a half marathon and 4-mile course that starts and ends at JACK Casino, buzzes through some of Cincinnati’s historic and scenic neighborhoods, and is lined with entertainment from bands and DJs.

Thank you race organizers for embracing RaceJoy and providing this one-of-a-kind race day experience for your participants and spectators!

Runners and Spectators Fly with RaceJoy at the Flying Pig Marathon!

119,000+ Progress Alerts, 17,500 Cheers and 12,500 Users

This year, special thanks to sponsor Cincinnati Inc., runners and supporting fans were treated to RaceJoy’s advanced runner tracking and cheer sending – and the response was simply amazing. People of all ages and fitness levels embraced new technology and put it to its full use that included even a marriage proposal…

12,500 Total Users

RaceJoy had close to 12,500 people use its tracking and cheer features for the Flying Pig Marathon, Half Marathon and 5K. Runners and their friends and family showed how receptive they were to newer technology and shared their experience.

I ran my first half marathon this weekend at the Flying Pig in Cincinnati. RaceJoy enhanced the experience so much by helping my cheering crowd know when I was coming their way! It also helped me worry less about looking for them in the crowd, afraid that they’d miss me. I loved that it recorded my EXACT time, because it kept me from having to look at my watch as I cross the finish line, potentially ruining my finisher picture.

Thanks so much!  — Kelly May

One of the key features in RaceJoy is live phone tracking where friends and family can see where the person is in real-time as shown below.

119,000+ Pig Alerts

RaceJoy issued the most GPS Progress Alerts to date for a single race event at the Flying Pig Marathon with more than 119,000 alerts being issued as participants reached mile points on the course. We renamed these as “Pig Alerts” for the occasion and they are sent as in-app notifications.

These are progress updates that are based upon the race participant’s location on the course and are issued out at every mile, and provide elapsed time, pace and estimated finish time. The participant receives them in audio format and the supporting spectator receives a RaceJoy Cowbell sound notification and notification on the screen.

17,500 Cheers

Cheers were flying at the Flying Pig Marathon, which demonstrates the excitement around this race and the great interaction that was going on race weekend. Of these 17,500 cheers, people sent 3,000 custom text-to-cheers. These are cheers people can type in and have instantly delivered in audio form to the participant. Some custom cheers sent included: “I can hear the pig starting to squeal”, “You are getting closer to the pig. Oink.”, and “On your left, opposite blue floppy balloon things and the pig.”

We loaded in special fun pig cheers just for the race and the top pig cheer sent was the “Sexy Pig Song” and then the “Look Flying Pig” cheer.

Engage Those Legs

Supporting friends and family of the newly engaged couple!

We love to hear stories of how people use RaceJoy to help them, and wanted to share a special one. This was from Lauren who was running her first full marathon and along the way began to see that she was being proposed to by the man of her dreams.

“The Flying Pig was my first full marathon, and my boyfriend suggested we each download RaceJoy so he could keep up with where I was throughout the course. What I didn’t know was that almost twenty of our friends and family had also downloaded it and were stationed throughout the last ten miles, holding signs, knowing when I was close by. This app was a critical piece of “Operation: Engage Those Legs”, and I couldn’t be more grateful! This past weekend, I achieved a huge physical milestone and said “Yes!” to marrying the man of my dreams. You guys rock!!”

Congratulations Lauren and Flynn. May you be showered with blessings and joy in the years to come!

One Last Pig Alert:

On behalf of all the runners, supporting family and friends and RaceJoy, a huge shout out goes to Cincinnati, Inc. who sponsored RaceJoy. And to race organizers of the Flying Pig Marathon who showed openness to new innovation and went the extra mile to spread the word. Runners and friends – we will cheer you at the next race!

Flying Pig Offers Two Ways to Track Runners – Bib Tag Alerts and Live GPS

This last weekend, one of the nation’s favorite races, The Flying Pig Marathon, offered two ways for participants to be tracked.

Screen capture from Flying Pig Marathon’s Website.

The race offered text alert tracking as participants crossed certain mile points on the course based on their bib tag crossing these points. This provided supporting spectators with the participant’s pace and estimated finish time. Spectators set this up through the Flying Pig Marathon’s official mobile app found in the app store.

Organizers of the Flying Pig Marathon went a step further and let people know that there was a second way to track runners through RaceJoy’s GPS-based phone tracking. Close to 400 participants registered in RaceJoy and activated tracking the morning of the race. Approximately 500 supporting spectators used RaceJoy to track their runner’s blue dot on race day.

In addition, participants using RaceJoy received audio progress alerts at every mile letting them know their elapsed time, pace and estimated finish time. Spectators tracking them also received these alerts in the form of an in-app notification. RaceJoy issued more than 9,100 progress alerts for the Flying Pig Marathon and Half Marathon.

Since the Flying Pig Marathon race organizers were getting the word out about RaceJoy, we added a banner ad for them to brand their race in RaceJoy, and we referred people to their official mobile app for further information on the race.

We also loaded fun pre-recorded pig cheers just for the occasion. Clearly, spectators had fun with this since they sent close to 1,400 cheers to participants during the race. The pleasant sounds of “…an oink oink here and an oink oink there…” and “look it’s a flying pig!” prompted many a smile on race day.

Race organizers of the Flying Pig Marathon clearly embrace innovation and sought out ways it could help their participants and mass amounts of spectators. Another mobile app they corralled into the mix was Uber; they made special arrangements with Uber to ensure transportation on race day. Not only does this race have a great theme that just requires us runners to put it on our bucket list, but organizers offer a fresh, modern experience that we all can appreciate and enjoy. So add this one to your list!

Ble ble ble… That’s All Folks!
